Airline CEO Allen Onyema says new route will expand international connectivity and boost regional development
Air Peace has announced plans to commence direct flights to London from the Gateway International Airport in Ogun State starting this summer, according to the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema.
Onyema disclosed that the new international route is part of the airline’s broader strategy to expand its global operations and improve connectivity between Nigeria and key international destinations. The planned service is expected to provide travellers in Ogun State and neighbouring regions with easier access to the United Kingdom without the need to travel through other major airports.

The development also highlights the growing importance of the Gateway International Airport as a new aviation hub in southwestern Nigeria. Industry observers say the introduction of international flights from the airport could stimulate economic activities, boost tourism, and attract investment to Ogun State and surrounding areas.
Air Peace has continued to expand its network across domestic and international routes in recent years, positioning itself as one of Nigeria’s leading airlines. The airline currently operates several long haul and regional routes, including services to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and across Africa.
The proposed London service from the Gateway International Airport is expected to further strengthen Nigeria’s aviation sector while providing passengers with additional travel options between the country and the United Kingdom.
