The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Olakunle Nafiu, has advised parents and guardians to provide adequate transport fares for prospective corps members travelling to orientation camps across Nigeria.
According to Nafiu, proper travel arrangements are essential to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of corps members as they journey to their assigned orientation camps for the mandatory national service programme.
The NYSC Director-General stressed the importance of avoiding unsafe travel practices that may arise from insufficient transportation funds, noting that corps members should be adequately supported to complete their journeys without unnecessary hardship.
He also urged prospective corps members to remain security conscious during their travels, comply with official directives, and make use of safe transportation options while moving across states.
The advisory comes as preparations continue for the mobilisation and orientation exercise of new corps members nationwide. Stakeholders have continued to emphasise the need for collective efforts in ensuring smooth and secure movement of participants during the exercise.
The NYSC management reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and safety of corps members throughout the orientation programme and the entire service year.
