“I won three times, now I’m going to do it again.”
The president’s remarks, delivered in a light-hearted segment of his speech, referenced his long-standing claim that he won the 2020 presidential election. He also wore a “Trump 2028” cap, prompting reactions from attendees and across social media. Multiple reports described the comments as jokes made during the event.
Under the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, no person may be elected president more than twice, making an actual third or fourth elected term constitutionally prohibited unless the Constitution were amended.
