Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo, founder and presiding bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, is being celebrated by family, church members and the wider Christian community as he marks his birthday.
Born on September 27, 1954, in Osogbo, Osun State, Oyedepo has devoted several decades to Christian ministry, building one of Nigeria’s most prominent Pentecostal ministries and establishing institutions focused on education, ministry and social development.
Oyedepo founded Living Faith Church Worldwide in 1981 after what he has described as a divine call to ministry. The ministry later expanded across Nigeria and into several countries around the world.
The church’s international headquarters, Faith Tabernacle, is located in Ota, Ogun State. The facility has become one of the major centres of Christian worship in Nigeria and hosts large congregations during church services and special programmes.
Beyond his pastoral responsibilities, Oyedepo has been involved in the establishment of educational institutions. His ministry founded Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, and Landmark University in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, as part of efforts to combine academic education with Christian values and leadership development.
He is also associated with several Christian publications and teaching materials through which he has shared messages on faith, leadership, personal development and Christian living.
Over the years, Oyedepo has remained a prominent figure within Nigeria’s Pentecostal Christian community, attracting followers through his preaching, books, conferences and ministry programmes.
His birthday celebration has prompted messages of goodwill and prayers from members of his congregation, Christian leaders and supporters who acknowledge his longstanding role in Nigerian Christian ministry.
As he marks another year, celebrations across Living Faith Church branches are expected to focus on thanksgiving, prayers and appreciation for his years of service to the church and wider Christian community.
