Brentford defender Michael Kayode has confirmed that he was approached about representing Nigeria but said he never seriously considered changing his international allegiance from Italy.
Kayode, who has represented Italy at various youth levels, said his international career has been shaped by his development within the Italian football system.
The defender was born in Italy to Nigerian parents and became eligible to represent both countries. However, after progressing through Italy’s youth teams, he continued to identify with the Italian national setup.
