Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has shared insights into how she is approaching her daughter’s early education, revealing that the child is currently being homeschooled.
Makinwa disclosed that homeschooling her daughter comes at a significant financial cost, but said she is intentional about providing her with a learning environment that supports her development.
“My daughter is homeschooled, and it’s not cheap,” the media personality said.
According to Makinwa, her daughter also participates in Arts and Crafts lessons with another teacher as part of her educational and creative development.
She explained that the child’s teacher had previously predicted that she would begin reading by the age of two, a milestone Makinwa said she is proud of as a mother.
“She also does Arts and Crafts with another teacher. Her teacher said she would start reading by age two, and I think I’ve done well as a mom,” she said.
Her comments offer a glimpse into the approach she has adopted towards her daughter’s education, combining homeschooling with additional learning activities outside the home.
Homeschooling allows parents and educators to create learning programmes tailored to a child’s individual pace, interests and developmental needs. However, it can also require significant financial and time commitments, particularly when parents engage multiple teachers for different areas of learning.
Makinwa’s decision to include Arts and Crafts in her daughter’s routine also highlights the role of creative activities in early childhood development, alongside foundational academic skills such as reading.
The media personality has continued to share aspects of her motherhood journey with the public, including her experiences and choices surrounding her daughter’s upbringing and education.
Her latest comments have generated interest among parents and followers, particularly those exploring alternative approaches to early childhood education.
For Makinwa, the progress her daughter is making appears to be a source of personal satisfaction, with the media personality expressing pride in the effort she has invested in her child’s development.
