The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The Registrar of NECO, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the release on Thursday during a press briefing, providing details of candidates who registered, sat for the examination and recorded outstanding results.
According to Wushishi, a total of 1,378,048 candidates registered for the 2026 examination, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the examination.
The NECO Registrar disclosed that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent of those who sat for the examination, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
The council also reported a significant reduction in examination malpractice cases.
A total of 1,496 candidates were involved in examination malpractice in the 2026 examination, compared with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025.
The reduction represents a substantial decline in the number of candidates involved in examination malpractice, according to figures released by the examination body.
The release of the results marks the conclusion of the 2026 SSCE process and provides candidates, parents, schools and other stakeholders with access to their academic performance.
NECO is expected to provide further details on the examination results and the process for candidates to access their results through its official channels.
