The incident occurred while the reporter was carrying out a live news assignment, with the unexpected collision interrupting the broadcast and raising concerns about the journalist’s condition.

Live reporting often requires journalists to work close to roads and other busy public spaces, exposing them to potential dangers from passing vehicles, particularly when traffic control and safety precautions are inadequate.

The reporter, identified as Alma de la Rosa Flores, and her cameraman, Cristo Morales, were both taken to hospital and reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. The driver was reportedly detained by authorities.

The incident occurred on October 2, 2026, on Morones Prieto Avenue in Monterrey, Nuevo León, as the journalists covered the effects of heavy rain and a road hazard. The vehicle reportedly lost control on the wet road before striking them.

Fortunately, both journalists survived. The shocking footage has renewed attention to the risks journalists face while reporting from busy roads and hazardous locations.
