🇺🇸 APC USA Backs Tinubu, Rejects U.S. Threat Over Religious Freedom Tag

The All Progressives Congress in the U.S. urges diplomatic engagement after Washington labels Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) USA Chapter has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu following the United States’ recent designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC).

In a statement from Washington D.C., APC USA Chairman Prof. Tai Balofin praised former U.S. President Donald Trump for his advocacy of religious freedom but urged dialogue instead of confrontation.

Balofin highlighted Tinubu’s rapid response to major security crises, including the June 2025 Yelwata massacre in Benue State, where over 200 people were killed.

He dismissed allegations that the Nigerian government is indifferent to religious or ethnic violence, describing them as politically motivated attempts to undermine Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Balofin called on the U.S. government to strengthen cooperation with Nigeria in judicial reforms, interfaith dialogue, and diaspora-led initiatives, insisting that diplomatic engagement would prevent escalation and strengthen bilateral ties.
