High Court Dismisses Injunction Against Oba Issa Abiodun Faronbi-Shekoni’s Installation as Osolo of Isolo

Justice Ezekiel Ashade of the Yaba High Court has dismissed an injunction seeking to stop the installation of Oba Issa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni as the new Osolo of Isolo, adjourning the substantive case to November 28, 2025.

A High Court sitting in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos State, has dismissed a motion for injunction against the installation of Oba Issa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni as the new Osolo of Isolo.

Delivering the ruling on Monday, November 3, 2025, Justice Ezekiel Oluwole Ashade held that the arguments presented by the claimant, Prince Jimmy Adetokunbo Goloba, were not sufficient to warrant an injunction.

Prince Goloba had sought the court’s order to restrain Oba Shekoni from parading himself as the Osolo of Isolo and to declare his installation null and void.

However, Justice Ashade ruled that the claimant’s case lacked merit and that the court would instead allow an accelerated hearing of the substantive suit.

“The arguments put forward by the claimant’s counsel, Prof. Fagbohun (SAN), are not convincing enough to grant the injunction,” the judge stated.

After hearing submissions from both parties, the court adjourned the case to November 28 and December 5, 2025, for continuation.

Oba Issa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni was officially installed as the Osolo of Isolo by the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Kayode Roberts, at a private ceremony held at the State Secretariat, Alausa, on March 28, 2025, following the passing of the former monarch, Oba Kabir Adelaja Agbabiaka, in 2024.
