NiMet Predicts Three-Day Sunshine and Cloudy Conditions Across Nigeria

Agency urges residents to prepare for mixed weather patterns as dry spells and cloud cover dominate forecast period

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast a mix of sunshine and cloudy conditions across the country over the next three days, advising residents to expect generally stable but varied weather patterns nationwide.

In its latest weather outlook, NiMet stated that most parts of Nigeria will experience sunny intervals accompanied by periods of cloudiness, particularly during the early morning and evening hours. According to the agency, the prevailing conditions are consistent with the ongoing dry season, with limited chances of rainfall across most regions.

Northern parts of the country are expected to witness predominantly sunny weather with patches of cloud cover, especially in the mornings. NiMet noted that dry and hazy conditions may persist in some areas due to dust particles in the atmosphere, which could reduce visibility and affect air quality.

In the North-Central region, including parts of the Federal Capital Territory, residents should anticipate sunny skies with occasional cloud formations. The agency advised vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly, to take precautions against heat stress during peak afternoon temperatures.

Southern states are projected to experience a combination of sunshine and increased cloudiness, particularly in coastal areas. While rainfall is unlikely to be widespread, NiMet indicated that localized cloud build-up could occur, especially during the early hours of the day.

NiMet urged Nigerians to stay informed through regular weather updates and to plan outdoor activities accordingly. The agency also advised motorists and air travelers to be mindful of potential visibility challenges in areas affected by haze, while farmers were encouraged to consider the forecast in their agricultural planning.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely and accurate weather information to support public safety, economic activities, and environmental awareness across the country.
