The Nigerian Communications Commission has directed Mobile Network Operators across the country to compensate subscribers in areas where network quality falls below the standards prescribed by the regulator.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Head of Public Affairs at the Commission, Nnenna Ukoha, explained that the directive forms part of efforts to ensure accountability and improve the quality of telecommunications services provided to Nigerians.
According to the Commission, subscribers affected by poor network performance will receive airtime credits as compensation. The value of the credits will be calculated based on users’ average spending patterns and their presence within specific local government areas where service disruptions or network failures are recorded.
