Mazi Afam Osigwe Badejo-Okusanya has emerged as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), pledging to unite members of the legal body after an election disrupted by a cyberattack.
Badejo-Okusanya's emergence marks a historic moment for the association, with the new president assuring members that his administration will focus on strengthening unity, professionalism and the rule of law.
The NBA's presidential election was overshadowed by a cyberattack that affected the electronic voting process, raising concerns about the integrity and security of the poll. Despite the disruption, the electoral process was concluded and a winner declared.
In his acceptance remarks, Badejo-Okusanya called on members to put the election behind them and work together to advance the interests of the legal profession and the association.
He also pledged to promote transparency, improve members' welfare and reinforce public confidence in the Nigerian Bar Association under his leadership.
