Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has stressed that maintaining safety in factories is a collective responsibility, calling on workers, visitors and management to strictly adhere to established safety procedures.
The advice was contained in Series #97 of The Secure Mind, his daily security awareness campaign focused on promoting safety consciousness and responsible behaviour in workplaces and communities.
According to Yusuf, factories are environments filled with machinery, electrical equipment, chemicals and other potential hazards, making it essential for everyone on the premises to comply with safety regulations to prevent accidents and safeguard lives.
He noted that visitors should receive proper safety briefings before entering production areas and remain within authorised zones throughout their visit. He also emphasised the importance of wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including helmets, safety boots, gloves, goggles and reflective vests wherever required.
Yusuf further advised that safety signs, restricted areas and emergency procedures should always be respected, while unsafe practices such as smoking in prohibited locations must be avoided.
He urged supervisors and management to conduct regular inspections of equipment, identify potential hazards and ensure workers receive adequate safety training. He added that promptly reporting faulty equipment, unsafe conditions or near misses can help prevent more serious incidents.
