EFCC Secures Interim Forfeiture Order on 57 Properties Linked to Ex-AGF Abubakar Malami

Assets listed in the court order include hotels, universities, residential buildings, commercial properties, factories and large parcels of land across Abuja, Kebbi and Kano States.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured an interim forfeiture order covering 57 properties allegedly linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

The order, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/20/2026, was granted by the Federal High Court pending the determination of the case.

According to court documents, the assets comprise luxury residential buildings, hotels, commercial plazas, educational institutions, factories, agricultural facilities, warehouses and expansive land holdings located in the Federal Capital Territory, Kebbi State and Kano State.

Among the high-profile assets listed are Meethaq Hotels in Maitama and Jabi, Rayhaan University, Rayhaan Agro Allied Factory, Azbir Hotel, Zeennoor Hotel, Rayhaan Hotel, several residential properties in Abuja, Kebbi and Kano, as well as commercial developments, schools, shopping complexes and agricultural investments.

The interim forfeiture order is a temporary legal measure that preserves the listed assets while the court considers the substantive case. It does not amount to a final declaration of ownership or a finding of guilt.

Under Nigerian law, affected parties are entitled to appear before the court to challenge the forfeiture and present evidence in support of their ownership claims before any final order is made.

The EFCC has not yet concluded its investigation, and the matter remains before the Federal High Court for further proceedings.
