The IJ Boys Association has restored hope and renewed the dreams of Kazeem Opemipo Alaba, a 200-Level Accounting student of Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, through the donation of a wheelchair to support his mobility and academic journey.

The wheelchair was formally presented at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, members of the University Management, the Ag. Registrar, Dean of Student Affairs, Admissions Officer, representatives of the IJ Boys Association and members of the Press Association.

Representing the IJ Boys Association at the event were Dr. Kehinde Philips, Chairman, Medical Outreach Committee, and Victor Okobiemen, Founder and Past Secretary-General of the Association.

For Kazeem, the event was more than the presentation of a wheelchair. It marked the beginning of a new chapter, one filled with renewed confidence, dignity and hope.

Despite living with a severe mobility challenge, Kazeem has remained one of the brightest students in the Department of Accounting. His determination to excel academically, despite the daily difficulties of moving around campus, inspired the intervention that has now transformed his life.

Speaking during the presentation, Kazeem expressed profound gratitude to the IJ Boys Association for the life-changing gesture. He said the donation had encouraged him to remain focused on his education and assured the Association that their investment in his future would not be in vain.

He also appreciated the leadership of Aletheia University and everyone who played a role in making the intervention a reality.

The story behind the donation began when the Public Relations Officer of Aletheia University, Omobolaji Sampson, observed Kazeem's daily struggle to move around campus while remaining committed to his studies.

Having previously worked with the IJ Boys Association on several media projects, including the production of the Association's documentary, sourcing the voice for the IJ Boys Anthem and covering its annual programmes on Ogun State Television for three consecutive years, she reached out to the Association with a heartfelt appeal on behalf of the student.

The appeal highlighted Kazeem's resilience, academic excellence and the urgent need for a mobility aid that would improve his quality of life.

Moved by the request, the leadership of the IJ Boys Association approved the donation of a wheelchair.

Addressing the gathering, representatives of the University Management described the gesture as timely and deeply appreciated. They noted that the donation would significantly improve Kazeem's mobility, enhance his learning experience and encourage other students facing challenges not to give up on their dreams.

The University also commended the humanitarian vision of the IJ Boys Association, describing the organisation as one that has consistently demonstrated compassion through interventions that positively impact lives.

Beyond the presentation, both parties expressed optimism about developing a stronger relationship between Aletheia University and the IJ Boys Association.

The Dean of Student Affairs disclosed that further discussions would be held between the University Management and representatives of the Association to explore possible areas of collaboration that would benefit students and the wider university community.

Such collaborations, it was noted, could include student support initiatives, mentorship programmes, educational interventions, medical outreach and other community development projects.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, the representatives reaffirmed IJ Boys' commitment to humanitarian service and giving back to society through meaningful interventions that uplift lives and create lasting impact.

The atmosphere at the presentation was filled with gratitude, joy and emotion as members of the University community witnessed the life-changing moment.

For Kazeem, the wheelchair represents far more than mobility. It represents renewed independence, easier access to lectures and campus facilities, and the confidence to continue pursuing academic excellence without the limitations he previously faced.

The presentation also demonstrated the power of compassion and collaboration. What began as a simple appeal has grown into a meaningful intervention that has changed the life of a deserving student and laid the foundation for a promising partnership between Aletheia University and the IJ Boys Association.
