South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised citizens for conducting what he described as largely peaceful demonstrations, commending protesters for exercising their constitutional right to protest in a responsible manner.

Reacting to the nationwide demonstrations, Ramaphosa said the protests reflected the maturity of South Africa's democracy and the commitment of citizens to express their views peacefully.

He acknowledged that peaceful protest remains a fundamental constitutional right and encouraged citizens to continue engaging in lawful and constructive civic participation.
