Campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has threatened to institute a N10 billion lawsuit against the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi.
Olajengbesi said the proposed suit would be based on allegations of defamation and injurious falsehood, following comments attributed to the senator.
The campaign spokesman reportedly warned that legal action would be pursued if Fadahunsi failed to address or retract the statements considered defamatory.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in Osun State as political actors and supporters of various camps continue to exchange allegations and counterclaims.
The threatened lawsuit could further escalate the political dispute between the parties, with the courts potentially determining whether the alleged statements amount to defamation or injurious falsehood.
Fadahunsi's response to the threatened N10 billion legal action was not immediately available.
