OGTV’s Margaret Okunlola Emerges Ogun Outstanding Youth of the Year 2025

NYCN honours award-winning journalist for professionalism, dedication and contributions to Ogun State.

Journalist and broadcaster with Ogun State Television (OGTV), Margaret Ayooluwa Okunlola, has been honoured as the Outstanding Youth of the Year 2025 in the Conventional Media category by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun State Chapter.

The award recognises Okunlola’s professionalism, dedication to duty, commitment to excellence and contributions to the development of Ogun State through journalism.

According to the organisers, the recognition is also in appreciation of her role as a positive example to young people and her contribution to the growth of the state through the media.

Okunlola currently serves as OGTV Correspondent to the Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, a role that has further expanded her professional profile within Ogun State’s media landscape.

In the course of her journalism career, she has covered a wide range of issues, including governance, politics, education, community development, culture, public affairs and human-interest stories.

Her work has been characterised by a commitment to impactful storytelling and the use of journalism to inform, educate and connect communities.

A graduate of English Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Okunlola is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English at Chrisland University, Abeokuta.

Her academic interests include the relationship between language, identity, media and society, reflecting her broader interest in communication and its role in shaping communities.

Beyond conventional broadcasting, Okunlola has developed expertise in strategic communication, multimedia content creation, digital media and social media communication. She has also undertaken professional training in areas including product management, broadcasting and soft skills as part of her commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

The NYCN award adds to her growing professional recognition and highlights her contributions to journalism, youth development and public communication in Ogun State.

Presenting the award, the NYCN Ogun State Chapter expressed confidence that the recognition would encourage Okunlola to sustain her contributions and continue making a positive impact in the state.

The honour marks another milestone in her journey as a journalist, broadcaster, communications professional and emerging media strategist, as she continues to build her career across journalism, academia and strategic communication.
