Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has urged individuals and community stakeholders to respect court proceedings and avoid attempting to reopen or take over matters already before the judiciary.
Yusuf made the call in Series #123 of The Secure Mind, titled “No Individual Has the Power to Reopen a Matter Already Before the Court.”
He said elders, rights activists, security agents, community leaders and religious leaders may intervene in disputes to promote dialogue and restore peace, but such interventions must be handled carefully when a matter is already before the court.
According to him, no individual should take the law into their own hands by threatening parties, imposing punishments or attempting to override the judicial process.
Yusuf advised anyone seeking to intervene in a dispute to first ascertain whether the matter is already before a court and determine its status before taking any action.
He noted that where parties are willing to settle a dispute amicably, they should pursue lawful settlement options through their lawyers and the court, where applicable.
The security expert stressed that efforts to restore peace should not result in actions that undermine the rule of law or create further conflict.
He urged Nigerians to respect the authority of the courts and allow pending matters to follow due process.

Yusuf concluded that a security-conscious individual understands the importance of respecting legal processes while seeking peaceful and lawful ways to resolve disputes.
