Cryptocurrency billionaire and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has seen his estimated fortune surge by $9.76 billion in a single day, bringing his net worth to $91.2 billion, according to billionaire wealth trackers.
Changpeng Zhao, the founder and former chief executive officer of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has recorded a sharp increase in his estimated net worth, with his fortune rising by $9.76 billion within 24 hours.
The increase brought Zhao’s estimated wealth to $91.2 billion, according to the latest figures reported by billionaire wealth trackers. Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index listed the same $91.2 billion figure and a one-day increase of $9.76 billion.
Zhao, widely known as CZ, has accumulated most of his wealth through his substantial ownership interest in Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges.
Forbes has previously estimated that Zhao owns about 90 per cent of Binance, making the valuation of the privately held company a major factor in determining his personal fortune.
The latest increase represents a rise of roughly 12 per cent in just 24 hours, according to reports based on the wealth tracker figures.
Zhao’s estimated fortune has also recorded a significant increase since the beginning of 2026. Bloomberg’s index puts his year-to-date gain at approximately $41.5 billion.
Because much of Zhao’s wealth is tied to his stake in a privately held company, estimates of his net worth can vary significantly between wealth trackers. Forbes and Bloomberg have recently published different valuations for his fortune based on their respective methodologies and assessments of Binance’s value.
Forbes’ real-time billionaire tracker had previously listed Zhao at $114.6 billion, illustrating the substantial difference that can arise between estimates of privately held assets.
Zhao founded Binance in 2017 and stepped down as the company’s CEO in 2023 following a settlement with United States authorities.
Despite no longer serving as Binance’s chief executive, he has retained a substantial ownership interest in the company, leaving the value of the cryptocurrency exchange closely connected to his personal wealth.
The latest jump in Zhao’s estimated fortune once again highlights the volatility surrounding cryptocurrency-related wealth, where changes in company valuations, digital-asset markets and regulatory developments can significantly affect billionaire rankings.
At $91.2 billion, Zhao remains among the world’s wealthiest individuals, with his fortune continuing to be largely linked to the performance and valuation of Binance.
