Love Alone Not Enough to Sustain Modern Relationships, Experts Say

First Lady commends Agri360 Mechanisation Training Initiative targeting 5,000 women and youths across Nigeria.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has stressed the importance of empowering women and young Nigerians with the skills, tools and opportunities needed to participate effectively in modern agriculture.

Tinubu said equipping women and youths to engage in modern agricultural practices was critical to the future of the sector and Nigeria’s food security.

The First Lady made the remarks while commending the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for launching the Agri360 Mechanisation Training Initiative, an intervention designed to strengthen the capacity of women and young people in agricultural mechanisation.

The initiative targets 5,000 women and youths across the country, providing them with opportunities to develop practical skills and improve their participation in a sector that remains central to Nigeria’s economy and food supply.

Tinubu emphasised that agriculture must increasingly move beyond traditional methods and embrace modern technology, mechanisation and skills development if Nigeria is to build a more productive and sustainable food system.

She noted that women and young people have important roles to play in transforming the agricultural sector, adding that providing them with the right tools, knowledge and opportunities would enable them to contribute more effectively to food production and economic development.

The First Lady’s support for the initiative also highlights the need to make agricultural opportunities more accessible to young Nigerians, particularly as the country seeks to strengthen food security and create sustainable livelihoods.

Through initiatives such as Agri360, beneficiaries are expected to gain exposure to modern agricultural practices and mechanisation, potentially improving productivity while creating pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.

The Federal Government has continued to emphasise agricultural transformation as part of its broader efforts to address food insecurity, create jobs and strengthen Nigeria’s domestic food production capacity.

With women and youths representing a significant part of Nigeria’s population, their inclusion in modern agricultural development could play an important role in building a stronger and more resilient agricultural sector.
