According to North Miami Beach police and court documents, Belizaire left aboard Carnival Conquest on September 25 for a three-day trip. The father of her infant reportedly became concerned after seeing a WhatsApp post indicating that she had purchased a cruise ticket.
Police said the father later went to Belizaire’s apartment and heard the children inside. Officers and firefighters entered the residence and reportedly found all four children without adult supervision, hiding together in a bathroom. The children included a two-month-old baby and a two-year-old.
Investigators said Belizaire had told the father and the children’s great-grandmother that she would leave the children with their great-grandmother, but the children were allegedly never taken there.
Authorities arrested Belizaire at PortMiami on September 28 when she returned from the cruise. She faces four counts of felony child neglect without great bodily harm.
During her bond hearing, Belizaire became emotional as the judge expressed concern over the children’s ages. Her attorney said she denies the allegations. She was later released on a $10,000 bond and ordered to stay away from the children, who were placed in foster care.
Belizaire is scheduled to return to court for arraignment on November 24. The allegations have not been proven in court.
