Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has said some young Nigerians with viable ideas could receive financial support of up to ₦5 million each as the Federal Government moves to use its newly launched National Youth Data Bank to connect youths with opportunities.

Olawande made the disclosure while speaking on the National Youth Data Bank, which was officially launched in Abuja on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The initiative is designed to provide reliable information on young Nigerians and connect them with opportunities in employment, skills development, entrepreneurship, internships and other youth-focused programmes.
According to the minister, the database will help the government identify young Nigerians based on their skills, education, location, entrepreneurial interests and other areas of need, making it easier to design targeted interventions.
The initiative is expected to cover youths in both formal and informal sectors, including those involved in agriculture, technology, sports and the creative industries.
Olawande said the government wants the Data Bank to go beyond simply collecting information and instead serve as a bridge between young Nigerians and available opportunities.
The National Youth Data Bank currently aims to build a comprehensive profile of Nigeria’s youth population across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with information covering areas such as education, skills, employment, entrepreneurship and civic participation.
The minister also urged young Nigerians to register and provide accurate information, stressing that reliable data would be essential to ensuring that government interventions reach the people who need them.
