The South-East Traditional Rulers Council has renewed its call for the unconditional release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, expressing concern that previous appeals to the Federal Government have failed to produce the desired outcome.
The council reiterated its position on Kanu’s continued detention, urging the Federal Government to reconsider its appeals for his release.
The traditional rulers said their previous interventions had yet to yield the expected result, prompting them to renew their demand.
Kanu’s detention remains a significant issue in discussions about security, justice and political reconciliation in the South-East.
The council’s latest appeal adds to calls by individuals and groups seeking a resolution to the matter through government intervention.
