Tinubu Visits Holy Kaaba, Kisses Black Stone During Visit to Islam’s Holiest Site in Makkah

The Nigerian President is pictured kissing the Hajar al-Aswad before reportedly receiving the rare privilege of entering the interior of the Holy Kaaba in Saudi Arabia.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attracted attention after being pictured kissing the Black Stone, known in Arabic as Hajar al-Aswad, at the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The moment reportedly occurred during the President’s visit to Islam’s holiest site, where he participated in religious activities associated with the Kaaba.

The Hajar al-Aswad is a sacred stone positioned in the eastern corner of the Kaaba. It holds special significance in Islamic tradition, with Muslim pilgrims seeking to kiss or touch it during Tawaf, the act of circumambulating the Kaaba.

Tinubu was also reportedly granted the rare privilege of entering the interior of the Holy Kaaba, an honour that is not ordinarily available to pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque.

The interior of the Kaaba is considered highly sacred, and access is granted on special occasions and to selected dignitaries.

The reported visit has generated attention among Nigerians, particularly Muslim faithful, given the religious significance of the location and the exceptional nature of the access described.

The development highlights another prominent religious engagement involving the Nigerian President during his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
