The RCCG General Overseer denies participating in a protest, explaining that the activity was part of a prayer walk organised following an instruction from the Christian Association of Nigeria chairman.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has responded to criticism surrounding his appearance while carrying a placard, insisting that the activity was not a protest but a prayer walk.
Adeboye acknowledged carrying the placard but explained that the exercise was organised as a prayer walk following an instruction from the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
“So I carried the placard, I can’t deny that. It wasn’t in protest, it was a prayer walk and the CAN chairman instructed churches to do so. Always investigate before you share unverified story,” the cleric said.
His clarification follows reactions and interpretations of the incident, with some people questioning the purpose of the placard and the message it represented.
The pastor urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it, warning against drawing conclusions from incomplete or unconfirmed reports.
The development has generated further discussion about the importance of context and responsible information sharing, particularly when public figures and religious leaders are involved.
