The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) says more than one million students have applied for loans under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, with ₦116 billion already disbursed.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that student loan applications have exceeded one million, less than a year after the programme’s official launch in May 2024.
In a statement by Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND said the milestone highlights growing awareness and participation among Nigerian students in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
So far, ₦116 billion has been disbursed to cover tuition and upkeep allowances.
Managing Director Akintunde Sawyerr described the achievement as “a validation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda,” emphasizing the government’s goal of making higher education accessible to all.
