The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a shipment of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, valued at ₦12.4 billion at a port in Lagos.
The seizure, described as one of the agency's major recent breakthroughs, was made during an intelligence-led operation aimed at preventing the importation of illicit drugs into Nigeria.
According to the NDLEA, the consignment was intercepted before it could be distributed, dealing a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating within the country.
The agency reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance at the nation's seaports, airports and land borders to curb the trafficking and abuse of illicit substances.
NDLEA officials also warned drug traffickers that security agencies remain vigilant and will continue to deploy intelligence and advanced investigative techniques to disrupt the illegal drug trade.
The latest interception underscores the agency's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and safeguard public health and national security.
