The Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, Oba Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan, has passed away after a brief illness.
The revered traditional ruler reportedly died in the United States, where he had been receiving medical care.
Oba Olaniyan ascended the throne in 2020 and was widely respected for his commitment to promoting peace, unity and development within Ipokia Kingdom and Ogun State.
News of his passing has thrown the ancient kingdom into mourning, with residents, traditional institutions, political leaders and well-wishers paying tribute to the monarch's life of service and leadership.
During his reign, the late monarch was recognised for fostering harmony among his subjects and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and progress of the Ipokia community.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Government and the Ipokia Traditional Council were expected to announce details of official mourning activities and funeral arrangements.
