The landmark event was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Fountain University, Osogbo, where the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, received members of the SPSP National Working Committee led by the Society's National President, Professor Adeniran Aluko.
Also present at the event were the Founder of the Society, Professor Isaac Olawale Albert, the Secretary General, Dr. John Tor Tsuwa, and other principal officers of the Society.
The event featured four major activities beginning with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which is expected to strengthen cooperation between both institutions in the areas of peace education, conflict resolution, security studies and research.
This was followed by a capacity-building session for students preparing to become members of the Society, where participants were introduced to the principles and objectives of peacebuilding and professional practice.
The programme also featured the formal induction and oath-taking ceremony for new student members, administered by the SPSP Secretary General, before climaxing with the official inauguration of the SPSP Fountain University, Osogbo Branch.
Speaking during the ceremony, leaders of both Fountain University and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice described the partnership as the fulfilment of a shared vision to promote peace, dialogue, conflict resolution and academic excellence among Nigerian youths.
They expressed confidence that the collaboration would provide students with valuable opportunities for learning, leadership development, research and practical engagement in peacebuilding initiatives.
The inauguration of the Fountain University branch further reflects SPSP's commitment to expanding its presence across tertiary institutions and nurturing a new generation of peace ambassadors equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development and peaceful coexistence.
