Check the Recipient Before You Click Send — Moruf Yusuf

Security expert urges individuals to double-check recipients and attachments to prevent confidential information from being wrongly shared.

Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has advised Nigerians to always confirm that they are sending messages, documents and files to the correct recipient before clicking the send button.

Yusuf gave the advice in Series #131 of The Secure Mind, titled “Ensure That You Are Sending a Message to the Right Recipient Before Clicking Send.”

He noted that people regularly send information to organisations, government agencies, colleagues, family members, friends and other recipients, making it important to pay close attention when selecting a contact or platform.

According to him, fatigue, stress, heavy workload and simple distraction can cause individuals to open the wrong chat, select the wrong recipient or attach an unintended document.

He warned that mistakenly sending confidential or sensitive information to the wrong person can have serious consequences, including reputational damage, professional problems and the loss or exposure of important information.

Yusuf urged individuals to remain calm and focused when sending sensitive information and to develop the habit of reviewing the recipient, attachment and message before sending.

He stressed that taking a few extra seconds to verify the details can prevent avoidable mistakes and their potential consequences.

“A lack of concentration can lead to messages and documents being wrongly shared.”

He encouraged Nigerians to make double-checking before sending a routine part of their personal, professional and digital security practices.

Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.
