NDLEA Arrests South African Woman With Heroin at Abuja Airport

Anti-drug agency intercepts suspect during airport operation as it intensifies efforts to curb drug trafficking.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a South African woman at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for allegedly attempting to traffic heroin.

According to the agency, the suspect was apprehended during a routine anti-narcotics operation at the airport.

The NDLEA said the arrest forms part of its ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking through Nigeria's airports and other entry points.

The agency noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and identify any possible accomplices or trafficking network.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement operations to prevent the movement of illegal drugs into and out of the country.

The suspect is expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations, in accordance with Nigeria's drug control laws.
