Iran has announced a $30,000 reward for any Iranian who kills or captures a US service member, according to reports citing Iranian state media.
The announcement was made by Iranian Army chief Amir Hatami, who said the reward would be funded by what he described as the Iranian people. Reports said the bounty would be doubled if the act is carried out by a woman.
The move comes amid heightened tensions and ongoing hostilities between Iran and the United States, further escalating the rhetoric between the two countries.
Hatami has also called for the withdrawal of US forces from the region, while tensions remain centred on US-Iranian military activities and the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
The reported bounty has raised fresh concerns over the potential risks facing US personnel in the region and the broader security implications of the escalating confrontation.
