Nigerian airline Air Peace has disclosed that it lost about $42 million in revenue due to repeated damage to its aircraft by ground-handling companies.
The airline said three of its aircraft were seriously damaged in the past 12 months, affecting their operations and resulting in substantial financial losses.
According to Air Peace, the incidents occurred during ground-handling operations, raising concerns about safety standards and the procedures used in handling aircraft on the ground.
The airline said the damage to the aircraft led to operational disruptions, including periods when affected planes were unavailable for scheduled flights.
The reported $42 million revenue loss highlights the financial impact that aircraft ground damage can have on airlines, particularly when major repairs keep aircraft out of service.
Air Peace's disclosure is expected to renew calls for stricter oversight, improved training and stronger safety standards among ground-handling companies operating at Nigerian airports.
