The Nigerian Military Police have arrested a woman identified as Rose John for allegedly impersonating a member of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
According to reports, the suspect was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation conducted by military authorities as part of ongoing efforts to combat impersonation and other related offences.
Military sources disclosed that the arrest was made after investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly been presenting herself as a soldier without lawful authority.
A video circulating online purportedly shows the suspect making statements regarding the allegations following her arrest. However, authorities are expected to conclude investigations before any final determination of guilt is made.
The Nigerian military has repeatedly warned members of the public against impersonating security personnel, noting that such acts constitute serious offences under the law and can undermine public trust in security institutions.
Security agencies have also encouraged citizens to report individuals suspected of falsely claiming military status or using military uniforms and insignia without authorisation.
The arrest underscores ongoing efforts by the military to identify and prosecute individuals involved in impersonation and other activities capable of tarnishing the image of the armed forces.
