Nigeria is leading Africa’s projected $221 billion oil and gas investment drive, with the country expected to attract between $30 billion and $50 billion in investments into 22 major offshore oil and gas projects by 2030, according to a report.
The projected investment is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for oil and gas capital, particularly as operators advance major offshore developments.
The report indicates that the planned projects could provide significant opportunities across the oil and gas value chain, while also supporting government revenue, local content development and job creation.
The anticipated investments come amid efforts by the Nigerian government and industry stakeholders to improve the investment climate, accelerate oil and gas exploration and production, and unlock the country's offshore resources.
The development is also expected to contribute to Nigeria's energy security and reinforce its role in Africa's petroleum industry.
If successfully realised, the projects could represent a major boost to Nigeria's oil and gas sector by 2030, while positioning the country to attract a larger share of the continent's projected investment.
