The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially handed over 50,000 newly recruited personnel to the Nigeria Police Force for training as part of efforts to boost manpower and enhance security across the country.
The recruits will undergo comprehensive training at designated police colleges and training institutions nationwide, where they will receive instruction in law enforcement, crime prevention, public safety, human rights, intelligence gathering, community policing and other core aspects of modern policing.
The handover marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government's ongoing police reform and recruitment programme aimed at addressing personnel shortages and improving the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the PSC, the training programme is designed to equip the recruits with the professional knowledge, discipline and practical skills required to effectively combat crime, protect lives and property, and uphold the rule of law.
The commission expressed confidence that the new recruits would contribute meaningfully to strengthening security across Nigeria upon the successful completion of their training and subsequent deployment.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise the Nigeria Police Force and improve service delivery through increased manpower, enhanced professionalism and continuous capacity development.
