US Lawmaker Riley Moore Welcomes Reported Arrest of Mahmoud Adam Over Alleged Attacks on Christians

United States Congressman Riley Moore has welcomed the reported arrest of Mahmoud Adam, whom he described as a radical Islamic Fulani terrorist leader allegedly responsible for the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Moore, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, reacted to the development in a post on X on Saturday, October 3, 2026, describing the reported arrest as encouraging news for Christians in Nigeria.

“This is great news for Christians in Nigeria! The arrest of Mahmoud Adam, a radical Islamic Fulani terrorist leader responsible for the killings of countless Christians, is proof that the US-Nigeria Security Cooperation agreement is bearing fruit,” Moore said. <Cite refs={[“turn428510news2”,“turn428510news1”]}/>

The lawmaker commended the Nigerian government for the reported arrest and linked the development to security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States.

“The Nigerian government deserves credit for making this arrest, and it’s clear that Congress and the Trump administration’s efforts to defend Christians are making a positive difference,” he added, calling for continued efforts to protect Christians affected by violence. <Cite refs={[“turn428510news2”,“turn428510news4”]}/>

According to reports published on October 3, Adam was allegedly arrested in the early hours of September 12 at his compound in Plateau State. Information and photographs relating to his reported detention emerged publicly in October. <Cite refs={[“turn428510news2”,“turn428510search6”]}/>

Adam has been described in reports as a prominent Fulani community leader, while allegations have also been made about his links to violent groups. However, Nigerian authorities have yet to publicly clarify the full circumstances of the reported arrest and the specific allegations against him. Moore’s description of Adam and the claims linking him to the killings of Christians should therefore be understood as allegations rather than established findings of a court.

The development comes amid continuing security concerns in Nigeria, particularly in parts of the Middle Belt where communities have suffered deadly attacks. Nigeria and the United States maintain security cooperation covering counterterrorism and related security challenges.

Moore’s reaction has drawn renewed attention to the role of international cooperation in addressing insecurity and protecting communities affected by violence in Nigeria.
