In an era where technology drives global progress, one foundation is transforming curiosity into opportunity for Africa’s next generation. The Tech with Khalid Foundation (TWiK) is on a mission to ensure that a teenager’s background never limits their potential.
Founded by Lawal Taofeek Ayodeji Khalid, a brand strategist, social innovator, and career coach, TWiK provides underserved students with hands-on access to critical digital skills, from Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) to renewable energy and embedded systems. The foundation goes beyond traditional classroom instruction, offering practical demonstrations, mentorship, and projects that turn ideas into real-world solutions.
“Our goal is to equip young people not just with knowledge, but with the confidence to create and innovate,” said Khalid. “We want them to see themselves as problem-solvers, innovators, and future leaders capable of shaping Africa’s digital landscape.”
Through initiatives such as digital skills workshops, innovation labs, and leadership programs, TWiK helps students in schools and communities across Nigeria and Africa gain exposure to the technology that powers the world. The foundation emphasizes both skill development and mindset, encouraging teenagers to believe in their abilities and embrace the mindset of creators rather than mere consumers of technology.
Khalid’s journey in youth empowerment started during his university days, co-founding the OOU Tech Community, and has since grown into multiple initiatives including TWiK, Bouwnce a platform redefining campus life through commerce, social interaction, and student-led innovation and Electrons, a tech community connecting students to global opportunities.
By combining technology education with practical mentorship and real-world applications, the Tech with Khalid Foundation is not just teaching students to code or build gadgets it’s building innovators, leaders, and changemakers ready to shape the future of Africa.
In the words of its founder, “Background should never define potential.” And through TWiK, this mantra is becoming a reality for countless African youths, one student at a time.
