SPSP Induction Workshop Begins Today on Strategic Community Engagement for Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding

Two-day virtual training scheduled for March 5 and 6, 2026, to equip practitioners with practical skills in peacebuilding and humanitarian response

The Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) has announced a two-day virtual induction workshop themed “Strategic Community Engagement for Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding,” scheduled to hold on March 5 and 6, 2026.

The workshop is designed to strengthen the capacity of peacebuilding practitioners, humanitarian actors, security professionals, and community leaders in addressing conflict through strategic engagement and structured intervention frameworks. The programme will feature expert-led sessions covering mediation, negotiation, security intelligence, humanitarian response management, and community-based conflict analysis.

Among the facilitators are Prof. Isaac Olawale Albert, who will speak on Community Engagement; Dr. Victor Adesiyan on Conflict Intervention and the Alternative Dispute Resolution spectrum; Dr. Obi Ndifon Neji on Conflict Analysis in Strategic Community Engagement; and Dr. O.O. Isola on Communication and Conflict from a community-based perspective.

Other speakers include Dr. Stephen Ademola Faleti on Negotiation in Community Engagement Processes; Dr. Adams Adeola on Mediation as a Community-Based Interventionist Approach; Prof. Ruth O. Adio-Moses on Managing Humanitarian Response and Security Challenges; and Prof. Adegboyega A. Karim on Harnessing Security Intelligence and Early Warning Information.

The workshop will also feature expert case study sessions by Prof. Jude Momodu and Prof. Yemisi Amupitan, as well as presentations by Prof. Chris Kwaja on Track One Diplomacy and Government Policy Engagement, and Prof. B.J. Ajibua on Civil-Military Relations in the Nigerian context. Additional sessions will cover strategic partnerships for humanitarian interventions, project management skills for community engagement, and evaluating engagement in protracted crisis environments.

A one-hour practicum session will be led by Prof. N.D. Danjibo, while the induction ceremony will be conducted by the SPSP President, Prof. Benjamin Aluko, and the Secretary General, Dr. John Tor Tsuwa.

The workshop fee is N60,000 or $40, covering training, induction, and certification.
