Revelation emerges as trial of Psquare’s former manager continues at Lagos High Court
Fresh details emerged on Tuesday at the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja as the first prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of Jude Chigozie Okoye, elder brother and former manager of music stars Paul and Peter Okoye of Psquare, revealed that the defendant’s wife holds a substantial stake in Northside Music Limited.
Testifying before Justice Rahman Oshodi, the witness, Peter Obumuneme Okoye (PW1), disclosed that Jude Okoye’s wife owns 800,000 shares in the music company. The revelation was made during proceedings in the case being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to an official statement from the anti-graft agency.
The testimony forms part of the EFCC’s effort to establish the ownership structure and financial dealings linked to Northside Music Limited, which is central to the allegations against the defendant. The prosecution is seeking to clarify how shares and company assets were distributed and managed during Jude Okoye’s tenure as manager of the popular twin music duo.
PW1’s evidence, the court heard, is aimed at shedding light on transactions and corporate arrangements that allegedly played a role in the dispute and subsequent criminal charges brought against the former manager. The EFCC maintains that the case revolves around issues of financial control, transparency, and alleged misappropriation connected to the group’s business interests.
Justice Oshodi adjourned further proceedings as the trial continues, with additional witnesses expected to testify. The outcome of the case is being closely watched by industry stakeholders and fans alike, given the high-profile nature of the Okoye family and their influence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
