The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has commenced an investigation into allegations of abuse at a daycare facility in Lagos.
According to officials, the probe was initiated following reports and complaints suggesting possible misconduct involving children at the centre. The agency stated that child safety and welfare remain top priorities, and any credible allegations will be thoroughly examined in line with existing laws.
NAPTIP emphasized that its intervention aims to establish the facts, protect affected children, and determine whether any criminal violations occurred. Authorities noted that investigations will involve collaboration with relevant law enforcement bodies and child protection services.
The agency also encouraged parents and guardians to report suspected abuse promptly, assuring the public that whistleblowers and victims will be handled with confidentiality and sensitivity.
The development has sparked concern among residents and parents in Lagos, with many calling for stricter monitoring and enforcement of operational standards for daycare facilities. NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring accountability where violations are confirmed.
