The Progressives NG: City Boy Movement Youth Tour Shines in Owerri

X conversation spotlights youth participation, unity message and continued expansion of Renewed Hope National Youth Tour

The recent Renewed Hope National Youth Tour stop in Owerri has continued to generate political and civic conversations, as stakeholders and youth advocates appraised its impact during a widely followed discussion on X hosted by The Progressives NG (@TProgressivesNG).

The conversation, themed “City Boy Movement Renewed Hope National Youth Tour – The Success Story,” featured key voices including Aminat Aminu-Isah, National Director of Public Affairs of the City Boy Movement, and Titilope Gbadamosi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, who was also a speaker at the Owerri engagement.

Participants described the Owerri event as a significant milestone in the movement’s nationwide youth mobilization efforts, noting the strong turnout and active participation of young people from diverse backgrounds. According to the speakers, the engagement demonstrated that Nigerian youths are increasingly interested in policy conversations, governance, and nation-building.

Responding to questions on what stood out most from the Owerri engagement, the guests highlighted the level of openness among youths, their willingness to ask critical questions, and their desire for inclusion in decision-making processes. They noted that feedback from participants reflected a demand for transparency, opportunity, and sustained engagement beyond political campaigns.

Aminat Aminu-Isah reportedly emphasized that the City Boy Movement is intentionally designed to be inclusive and non-elitist, providing a platform for all young Nigerians regardless of social status. “This is not an elitist movement. It is a people-driven initiative focused on empowering young Nigerians and giving them a voice in governance,” she noted.

On her part, Titilope Gbadamosi reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth-focused policies, stressing that the Renewed Hope agenda is centered on creating opportunities and fostering national unity. She highlighted the importance of combating misinformation, noting that fake news remains a major challenge in political engagement and public discourse.

The choice of Owerri as a host city also formed a key part of the discussion. Speakers addressed perceptions of political and ethnic divisions, particularly narratives suggesting tension between Igbo and Yoruba groups. They dismissed such claims, stating that the engagement in Owerri was a deliberate effort to promote unity and demonstrate that collaboration across regions remains strong.

“There is no tribal war. What we saw in Owerri was unity, shared purpose, and a collective desire among youths to move the country forward,” one of the speakers noted.

The conversation also drew contributions and questions from a wide audience, including Nigerian youths in the diaspora, who joined the discussion virtually and shared perspectives on governance, inclusion, and national development. Many participants commended the initiative while urging the organizers to sustain engagement and translate conversations into tangible outcomes.

Stakeholders further stressed that the success recorded in Owerri is only a starting point, with plans already underway to extend the tour to other parts of the country. “We are not stopping here,” the speakers affirmed, adding that the movement is committed to building a strong network of young Nigerians actively involved in shaping the nation’s future.

Analysts say the growing visibility of the City Boy Movement and its youth-focused engagements reflects an evolving political landscape where young people are increasingly seen as critical stakeholders in governance.

As the Renewed Hope National Youth Tour continues, expectations remain high that the initiative will deepen youth participation, bridge divides, and contribute to a more inclusive political process across Nigeria.
