Institution records expanded admissions across disciplines while reaffirming commitment to sustainability and academic excellence
Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has formally admitted 264 students across its various colleges during its third matriculation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in its academic expansion and commitment to science-driven and professional education.
The ceremony reflected the University’s growing academic capacity, with admissions distributed across key disciplines including 41 students in Arts, Management and Social Sciences, six in Engineering, 40 in Science and Information Technology, 131 in Medical and Allied Health Sciences, and 46 in Law. The distribution highlights the institution’s increasing emphasis on health sciences and technology-oriented programmes.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olukayode Dewumi Akinyemi, congratulated the newly admitted students and urged them to uphold discipline, integrity and academic excellence. He reiterated the University’s commitment to providing a conducive academic environment supported by quality infrastructure, structured learning systems and strong institutional governance.
The Chancellor, Major General Sansadeen Adebanjo Awosanya, described the admission as both a privilege and a responsibility, encouraging students to approach their academic journey with seriousness and purpose. He noted that true education must produce responsible citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to national development and sustainable growth.
The Pro-Chancellor, Dr (Mrs) Onikepo Akande, commended the steady growth of the institution and described Aletheia University as a forward-looking centre of learning committed to quality education and institutional development. She encouraged students to remain focused and make full use of the opportunities available within the University.
The ceremony was attended by the Chancellor’s wife, Alhaja Funmilola Omowunmi Awosanya, alongside members of the Board of Trustees, including Mrs Adeola Simon, Professor Saburi Adesanya, Mr Biodun Awosanya and Mr Kola Abdul. Also present was the Ogun State Coordinator and Deputy Director of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Mr Hakeem AbdulHameed, reflecting continued collaboration with national education regulators.
A key highlight of the event was the formal flag-off of a tree planting exercise led by the Chancellor as part of the University’s sustainability initiative. Members of the Board of Trustees and Management participated in the exercise, which symbolised the institution’s commitment to environmental responsibility and long-term ecological balance.
The University stated that the initiative forms part of its broader agenda for responsible institutional development, sustainability awareness and the promotion of environmental stewardship within the academic community.
