EFCC Warns Content Creators Over Unauthorized Use of Its Name and Logo

Anti graft agency cautions against misrepresentation in skits and media productions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to content creators and media producers, cautioning them against the unauthorized use of its name, logo, and likeness in skits and other creative productions.

The commission stated that such portrayals often misrepresent its operations and could mislead the public about its mandate and activities. It emphasized that the use of its identity without proper approval is unacceptable and constitutes a violation of established guidelines.

According to the EFCC, individuals or groups found engaging in such practices risk facing legal action, as the commission is prepared to prosecute violators in line with relevant laws.

The agency noted that while it recognises the role of creative content in entertainment and public engagement, it must ensure that its institutional image is not distorted or used in ways that undermine its credibility.

Content creators have been urged to seek proper authorization before incorporating EFCC branding or references into their work. The commission added that it remains committed to public enlightenment and collaboration but will not tolerate misuse of its identity.
