Academic excellence rewarded as Nigeria's highest-scoring UTME candidate is honoured for his outstanding performance.

Okeke Chinedu Christian, the overall best candidate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has been awarded the ₦5 million Star Prize by Rite Foods Limited in recognition of his exceptional academic achievement.

Okeke, who scored an impressive 375 in the 2025 UTME, emerged as the highest-scoring candidate nationwide. An aspiring mechanical engineer, he selected the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his first-choice institution.

The award was presented as part of the maiden Academic Excellence Recognition Award, an initiative by Rite Foods in partnership with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to celebrate exceptional academic performance and encourage excellence among Nigerian students.

The initiative rewarded seven outstanding students from across the country's geopolitical zones and included a special category for the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability, with each recipient receiving ₦5 million.

The recognition has been widely applauded by education stakeholders, who described it as a significant step towards promoting merit, rewarding hard work and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue academic excellence.
