Security expert Moruf Yusuf, popularly known as Ojogbon, has urged motorists and other road users to always give way to emergency vehicles responding to incidents, stressing that a few seconds of cooperation can mean the difference between life and death.
The advice is contained in Series #106 of The Secure Mind, his daily security awareness campaign focused on promoting public safety, responsible citizenship and accident prevention.
According to Yusuf, private motorists, commercial drivers and transport operators have a civic responsibility to yield whenever ambulances, fire service vehicles or other authorized emergency responders approach with their sirens or warning lights activated.
He explained that emergency vehicles require unobstructed access to accident scenes, hospitals, fires and other critical situations where every second counts. Delaying their movement by refusing to give way, he noted, could jeopardize rescue efforts and place more lives at risk.
Yusuf encouraged road users to remain calm, stay alert and create a safe passage for emergency responders whenever possible. He added that encouraging others to observe this simple road safety practice contributes to a safer and more responsible society.
