Reps Probe CBN, NNPCL, Others Over Alleged Unremitted Government Revenue

Public Accounts Committee orders Accountant-General to provide details of outstanding operating surplus and other revenues owed to the Federal Government.

The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee has intensified its investigation into revenue remittances by federal agencies, directing the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to submit a comprehensive report on outstanding operating surplus and other revenues allegedly owed to the Federal Government.

The committee specifically requested details relating to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other government-owned enterprises.

Lawmakers said the information is needed to determine the extent of outstanding financial obligations and ensure that all revenues due to the Federal Government are properly accounted for and remitted.

The investigation forms part of the House Committee's ongoing oversight of public finances and efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and prudent management of government resources.

The Accountant-General's Office is expected to provide the requested records to assist the committee in its review of the financial activities of the affected agencies and government-owned enterprises.
