A man reportedly suffered a medical emergency while travelling by bus from Ibadan to Lagos, with a fellow passenger stepping in to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and help save his life.
A video circulating on social media shows the passenger receiving emergency assistance inside the bus as the good Samaritan performs CPR in an apparent attempt to restore his breathing and circulation.
According to the post accompanying the video, the man was believed to have suffered a heart attack during the journey and became unresponsive, prompting the intervention from the fellow passenger.
The incident has drawn attention to the importance of knowing basic first-aid and CPR techniques, particularly in situations where professional medical assistance may not be immediately available.
Medical professionals distinguish between a heart attack and cardiac arrest. While a heart attack occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked, it can trigger cardiac arrest, in which the heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively.
